… plus two years and a wee bit. I’ve been holding my breath, holding my words — at least here — anticipating that the right thing to write would come to me, that I would know when the right time had arrived to write about writing again. When I finally finished my latest novel. When that novel went on submission. When that submission resulted in a publishing contract. When that novel was published. When none of these happened and I gave up seeking publication to start a botanicals enterprise with my partner.
Welcome back! Life does sometimes get in the way of what we want to be doing, but I always think those times have lessons for us. And probably lots of things for you to use in your writing. Here's to lots of writing ahead!
I so look forward to your writing about writing and the writing life, Julie. I've missed it! I've also missed your pretty PNW pics since I've been off Instagram. My husband and I visited Olympic NP last summer and made a stop in Port Townsend with friends...WOW. A beautiful and special place.
It was a lovely surprise to see this in my Monday email. I love getting snippets of your writing in your Goodreads reviews, so look forward to seeing more!
I’m finding it all happens when it happens. Sometimes because of our drive, other times in spite of it. You have been through a lot and I can relate having been through some of the same sorts of life events in the last seven years. It sounds like you’ve travelled a large swath of emotional road and have landed in a good place now. Me too! I look forward to being in touch again and watching as your new ventures unfold. I feel like it’s time for me too to once again emerge. XOXO
Lovely to hear how you've been getting on Julie. I was only thinking of you the other day. So happy to hear that you are happy now. Also about your working with botanicals. I've been turning my attention to painting botanicals with watercolours and am loving the practice. It's so attention intensive leaving no room for ruminations!!

What a delight to see you back in my inbox! Looking forward to more stories.
