Suddenly it’s late October. Azure August skies have given way to the deep amber light of autumn. With the first frost behind us, we’ve harvested squash, cut back salvia and lavender, weeded and mulched. The chimney’s been cleaned, wood cut and stacked, down comforter aired, summer clothes moved to the back of the closet. I love this drawing down time of year, the re-centering of energy from summer’s wide open brio to winter’s grounding stillness.
